The weather was wonderful---20-30 degrees cooler than where we live. Having said that, the warmth/ambience of the "cabin" offered all that we could want--and a couple of things I forgot. The house had a peaceful feel, not at all "busy"--from the pictures to furnishings. In the kitchen, I found NOT second hand mismatched silverware, plates, glasses, and pots and pans, but first rate, clean all of the above. Plates and bowls were beautiful. Plenty of hot water! The mattresses are usually the make it or break it of any rental for us. No craters here! We all slept wonderfully. Money well spent by the owners. Ceiling fans in every bedroom! This was the best all around VRBO that we've stayed in. Exceptional! This was a get-out-of-the-heat stay-cation for us. We were not disappointed. Bearizona was a treat. My daughter and I really connect, so we had a lot of good fun with it. The other places are great places to tour. we've seen them more than once. Reindeer Retreat is a great home base or home away from home and heat. Thank you so much to the owners! We plan to return next year, and also hope for rain!Warmly,Russell and Patty

We have to get away from loud fireworks in our town and we love the pines in Munds Park and the quiet!!. This rental was, possibly, the best all around place to stay. Clean, easy to warm up, nice kitchen, comfy living room with pretty fireplace, nice quiet street with nice neighbors, and can I say, "clean" a second time?? Bill is just the nices host. We had a little bit of trouble with the TV. They're all different. We called him and he got back with us very shortly. He walked us through and then we had no trouble from that point on. We'll definitely be back.

We will be back again! We spent about 4 days during spring break with my mom, brother, two kiddos, hubby, and pup! Everything was clean, neat, and stocked! We had a snow storm during our stay and the owner was so quick to respond and was attentive to any concerns we had! The snow, although unexpected, made for an amazing little experience with the family:) we were about 20 minutes from flagstaff and about 40 minutes from Sedona which were both perfect! Recently stayed at this property for a week-long elk hunting trip. The property had everything we needed, and was clean and comfortable. Communication with the owner was timely and very concise. Only two things I’d suggest to the owner - 1) include in the listing that the property has BOTH a regular coffee maker and a Kuerig machine (the current listing just says “coffee maker”, and 2) update the TV operator instructions. To get the satellite TV powered on, you don’t go through the DVD/VHS device, you actually use the Roku and select “satellite TV” on the main menu. Other than those minor things, have absolutely no other suggestions. We had a great stay and would definitely rent this property again.

Just what we needed

With temperatures getting into the triple digits in Scottsdale/Phoenix we were looking to go to higher ground to have a few days of cooler weather. This was just the ticket. We Hubby and I) took my Mother-in-law, who has trouble walking, and our dog. The house was perfect for my Mother-in-law as she was able to maneuver around easily. I loved the front porch, which was fenced/gated so the pup could sit out and enjoy the fresh and cooler air with us. The home was fully stocked with all the cooking utensils you would need. Just add groceries. A nice Weber gas grill on the front porch added to eating in for the nights. Beds were very comfy and the neighbor was so quite, all got a wonderful nights sleep. The owner was quick to respond and even allowed us to check in early. Thanks Bill for a nice weekend getaway.

If you’re wanting to get out of the Phoenix heat for a few days this summer, this is a terrific place to go. The home is very clean and comfortable and has all the amenities you would ever need. Munds Park is convenient to both Flagstaff and Sedona and a really friendly community. My wife and I enjoyed walking the neighborhood in the mornings and the residents we encountered we very nice. A really nice place; would definitely stay there again.

Property manager was amazing to work with. Very communicative and flexible. Very reasonable nightly rate. Inside and front enclosed deck were very nice. A little warm in the three bedrooms since there is just a wall unit in master and in dining room. But it's not normally as hot there as it was the weekend we were there. Ceiling fans in the rooms definitely helped. Thought there was a little more of an enclosed backyard but it is just a fenced area for dogs off of one of the bedrooms. Had hoped to sit outside and play cornhole but there is nowhere to do that. Not a big deal, we just went to our other family members cabin and did it there. Overall great stay. Thank you!

Everything was great! The property owner was always in contact us, making sure check in went smoothly. The cabin was perfect. Very cosy with a gas fireplace, cosy beds and plenty of room for us 6. Could have easily slept 2 more. Kitchen was nicely furnished for all our cooking needs. Is in a nice location. Not to far from everything, Grand Canyon, Sadona, Phoenix, Flagstaff. We even found a creek close to go planning for gold. I highly recommend this property. When I go back to Arizona, I hope to stay there again!

Let me start off by saying, if you're looking for a REMOTE, ISOLATED location, this is NOT it! This location is in a neighborhood style BUT it is very nice neighborhood, very charming and peaceful. I rented this location for 5 adults and 2 kids and it was perfect! The bedrooms are great, the fireplace/living room area is a nice size and we spent most of our time there and in the patio. It's location is good too, it took us 30 ish min to get to Sunset Crater! I definitely recommend this location for a nice vacation.

My husband and I love visiting Munds Park year round. We decided to take a last minute weekend trip and booked Bill's place. Our stay was overall perfect. The cabin was clean and had all the essentials we needed to enjoy our stay. It snowed the majority of the time we were there. We enjoyed watching the snow fall while cozied up by the fire place. The wifi was great even during the snow storm and we were able to stream movies and enjoy movie nights in. Our little one enjoyed the board games and big Legos that were available for play at the cabin. We would definitely book again.

We planned our trip during a winter snow storm we are current Phoenix resident but lived our lives in Colorado until 2 years ago Believe it or not my wife loves to shovel snow She got her wish a solid 10 inches came down will we were there Now about the house pet friendly is a must for us and the enclosed side yard was perfect We do a lot of VRBO’s and I have to say the was the best we have had squeaky clean priced right everything you need 4 spacious bedrooms (we only use 2) great heaters in every room and bathrooms Nice outside front deck great dining table for Six great living room for seven good kitchen for any size group mix of hardwood floors and carpeting pristine nice neighbors Don’t know what else to say Looking forward to going back in the summer

We wanted to come spend some time with my mom in the area and we were just 2 minutes from her! We also have two dogs which makes travel difficult, Bill allowed us to bring them on the property (we always kennel our dogs), but the little access to the yard was perfect and the dogs didn’t have to be out in the cold. Everything we needed was available, vacuum, fan, cleaning supplies. We were able to pack light because there was a washer and dryer in the home. It was a perfect spot to celebrate Christmas a little early with family!

We spent most of our time at a family member's in Munds park and didn't use the kitchen etc. The house has a fourth room with it's own door to backyard which was small and perfect for letting the dog out. It was fenced so that would've been nice. We ended up leaving the dog on the valley so didn't need it but definitely plus for next time!

My friend and I stayed at this cute, clean home in a quiet neighborhood. The owner was very accommodating with quick responses to our many questions and requests. One of my friends is in a wheelchair and she was able to navigate easily through the home. There was one small step at the entrance that we helped her with but she was independent in the rest of the house. (Note: she used the master bathroom but did not use the shower). We had everything we needed in the home. Each room had it's own heater instead of central heat which I found handy so we could each set our own temperature in our rooms. If we are in the area in the future, I would definitely stay here again.

Family Road Trip 2021

Our family took a road trip to meet up with other family. We packed a lot in for the week. Bill’s cabin was absolutely perfect for all of our activities. We made it to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Bedrock City, Horseshoe Bend-Lake Powell, Meteor Crater, Devil’s Bridge Hike in Sedona, Out of Africa Safari, & shopping/exploring Williams. The cabin was in a great centralized location for all of those things. The place: clean & cozy! Beds were very comfy. Kitchen was well stocked. We had breakfast to start our adventures most days and made lunch/dinner a couple of times. Unfortunately, I did have to work for part of the trip. But, WiFi & cell service were sufficient & no issues there. There was a closet full of board games and big blocks that the littles enjoyed. Bill was always very responsive & extremely pleasant to work with. Cons: very difficult to make reservations for dinners in Flagstaff & people were not very friendly. All other towns/people were great.

Comfy cozy home.

My wife and I spent five days at the reindeer retreat for a little relaxation while we had our floors redone and this place was a nice find. The master is a good size with an on suite bathroom, there's three other bedrooms and a second bathroom. The kitchen has everything you need. Full size washer and dryer as well. Bill the owner is great to work with we wanted to make chili for the superbowl and he provided a crockpot which worked out great. The location is great about 20 minutes south of Flagstaff and 50 minutes from Sedona. It's a nice quiet neighborhood to walk your dog in. The fireplace is gas so no crackle of a roaring fire but it does give off a lot of heat and still nice for ambiance (have some wine) and snuggling. I was worried about the wall heaters but they kept us toasty. There is also a bbq and a gas fire ring on the patio that we took advantage of. Reading a book in the afternoon with the fire ring going was relaxing. Reindeer retreat is a great place for couples or families for a quiet time away or as a base camp to explore the surrounding areas. We would stay here again.

Peaceful Retreat in the Snow

Thanksgiving Vacation

My family and I enjoyed the days at Reindeer Retreat. The location is really in a group of houses and not quite as rural as the pictures showed. The house had the correct number of bedrooms , bathrooms and we could bring our dog. Since there was a heavy snowstorm during our time there, the electricity went out for over 18 hours. That was ok during the day but at night it was very dark. Bill Brown was so concerned about our welfare that he drove from Phoenix to bring us portable heaters, flashlights and camping led lights. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Kitchen was great, bedrooms we're large and everything was super clean! Great hot water heater. Living room area was cute. Deck area was nice. My family and I loved this home. It was a 45 minute drive from the shops in Sedona and about 20 minutes from Flagstaff, but that wasn't a big deal for us. The home itself was clean, big kitchen which I loved, clean rooms and bathrooms. I really loved the patio, but sadly we didn't get to occupy it since we got snow during our stay. He also had games, movies, toys and books stored in a closet which was great for our kids. So overall we enjoyed the home and would definitely come back and I definitely recommend this home!

Wonderful vacation home

We stayed 3 nights in Dec to attend the graduation of our last child from NAU. We wanted a place so the whole family could come up and attend the graduation. The house allowed us to eat meals in, play cards at the dinner table and just over all have a fantastic family experience. The house was amazingly comfortable, the kitchen had everything you could possibly need (tinfoil, zip lock bags, spices to cook with...everything!) The beds were super comfortable and the fireplace was super homey. I can't say enough good things about this house. It met our needs perfectly. It is 15 mins away from the center of Flagstaff and NAU but the drive was nothing. So glad we stayed here and I would highly recommend this home.

Our family of 6 adults and one toddler enjoyed a great getaway at Reindeer Retreat! The cabin is nicely appointed and perfectly equipped for a stay - minus the food and drink, of course. Our plan was to play games in the evening but...I forgot to pack them. No worries, there is a selection of board games up there that we enjoyed. I did remember to pack the movies but if I had forgotten, we would have been able to find something to watch in the nice DVD/VHS library provided. Great communication from the owner, Bill. We had left something of importance behind at the cabin when we returned home. Bill was kind enough to arrange time in his schedule to meet up with us to return it. It was wonderful to leave the heat of Phoenix behind. Enjoyed star-gazing and seeing the trees and random iris on walks through the neighborhood. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend Reindeer Retreat. We can't wait to visit again!

Great cabin at the right location

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children (7 and 4) stayed at Bill’s cabin for 9 days. It’s a perfect cabin for us in terms of size and location. The kitchen has most everything we needed for cooking. Bedrooms are nice and beds are comfortable. Plenty of towels/wash cloths in bathrooms. We appreciate the toys and DVDs very much. There are nice grocery stores in Flagstaff and Sedona. We hiked, dined, shopped, enjoyed the red rocks and sunset in Sedona; visited Meteor Crater and Lowell Observatory near Flagstaff, even stopped at the abandoned town Two Guns (Apache Death Cave) on the way to the Crater. We got to star gaze many nights when the sky was clear at the cabin. It was awesome. Driving is beautiful and grand from the cabin to either Sedona or Flagstaff. Bill responded quickly for whatever we needed. That helped a lot. Thank you Bill for a very pleasant vacation.

We have been twice to Reindeer Retreat. It was a lovely cabin last year that was made even better with the installment of beautiful, dark wood flooring in the front rooms and new furniture in the family room by our second visit this year. The cabin is well maintained and very clean. Its location is ideal for visiting many attractions in northern Arizona — Sedona, Flagstaff, the Lowell Observatory, the Grand Canyon, Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater and more. We were interested in the fall colors and chose a drive to Lockett Meadow as part of our itinerary. Making arrangements with Bill Brown, the owner of Reindeer Retreat, was just as easy and pleasurable the second time as the first. We as a family can highly recommend staying at this delightful cabin in Munds Park as evidenced by our repeat visit.

We stayed for 4 nights in Reindeer Retreat on our little road trip around California/Arizona, but it was such a fabulous place to stay, we could easily have stayed our entire trip here. The cabin is beautifully decorated, and it is so very clean - cleaner than anywhere we have ever stayed over the years. We felt at home from the minute we arrived, and everything we needed was thoughtfully provided. The area around the cabin is a beautiful part of the country, and if you need any tips on where to go, or scenic routes etc. then Bill can recommend something wherever you go - his knowledge is great! :-) We stayed/travelled with 3 children between 7-11, and we would all unanimously recommend both the area, and Reindeer Retreat - everyone needs to see Arizona based right here :-) Thank you so much from all our family!

Our son and his family stayed in this lovely four bedroom home for a week. We have a home around the corner but it is not large enough to house our growing family. This was close and convenient and more than that the home is in excellent condition. Beautiful new flooring in the main living and kitchen area. Very nice living room furniture and best of all for our growing family everything on one ground floor level so no danger of stairs for toddlers. The owners are very easy to work with and respond quickly to any form of communication.

An absolutely beautiful and perfect place to relax/unwind away from home.We had a wonderful time during our stay.The neighborhood is peaceful,relaxing and we felt safe. It has everything you need, from the toys, games for the kids, movies , to a fully stocked kitchen which is beyond my expectations compare to other cabin we stayed before. It is clean, cozy and spacious.The living and dining room is bigger, roomy and spacious than it was in the picture. All the rooms has plenty of space, beds were comfortable.We enjoyed the BBQ and deck. Kids enjoyed those games, toys and movies. Bill (owner ) is very nice, caring and accommodating he even mailed us the camera my daughter lost that he found under the bed.He was extremely helpful in providing area details with suggestions on places to visit. We would highly recommend this cabin to our relatives, friends and coworkers. We would definitely stay there again each time we come to Arizona!!! Thank you Bill !!!

The house was perfect. Very spacious, which is exactly what we needed after hours of driving. Super comfy living room, great dining area, comfy beds, CLEAN! Kitchen has everything you need to make any meal, and we even used the grill while it was snowing outside! Kids got a huge kick out of the VCR, totally new technology for them. We got an unexpected snow storm and decided to have a lazy snow day... Kids loved the sleds and snowboards, we all loved warming up by the awesome fireplace. Bill was beyond awesome to work with and very accommadating . We needed to book very last minute and minutes after inquiring about availability we were on the phone making it work out for both parties. He even mailed us the souvenir magnet our son forgot on the fridge. We will definitely stay here again should we be in the area.

We stayed here with 4 adults and 2 children. We all had plenty of space with the four bedrooms. the kids loved the bunk beds and enjoyed the toys and games that the home provides. This property was a wonderful place for me and my two dogs to your house shopping in the owner bill was great he was available responded quickly and was there to answer any questions. Wonderful weekend in the pines. The cabin was well equipped and functioned well for 4 adults and 2 kids with room to spare. The front patio was so enjoyable with shade all day to enjoy the outdoors relaxing. The dogs loved it and the dog run was perfect. The cabin also accommodated a wheel chair just fine. Lots of nice trails to ride on in that area so we took our side by sides over to Mormon Lake lodge. Highly recommend trying this cabin for a stay. Thanks!

Well-cared for, home-like retreat in Munds Park = one GREAT getaway

All the reviews about the homeowner, Bill Brown, being nice are true! He called within five minutes of receiving my reservation request to make sure his house would adequately suit my disabled son's needs and not pose any problems in our caring for him. Working with Bill was a pleasant and efficient experience that made the rental process uncomplicated and smooth. The property is well situated to explore Northern Arizona or for just staying in and relaxing within its clean, comfortable space. It is nestled in Munds Park which allowed for miles of walking on paved roads, access to the forest edging the community, or walking to Lake Odell (1.5 miles from the property). The living space is open which made for good interaction and conversation among our group. The bedrooms are neatly tucked along the back of the house, and the two bathrooms served our party of six well. The two young ladies in our group could put on their makeup simultaneously due to the ample countertop space and lighting in the master bathroom. The lot the house sits on is small (as is the majority of lots in Munds), and the neighbors are fairly close. That didn't bother us one bit and enhanced the small community feeling. The residents we passed while walking were friendly and welcoming. We spent a lot of time on the lovely front deck soaking up the cool weather and fresh air before reluctantly returning to the heat in the Valley of the Sun. Our family decided to go out of town to start the year and were very lucky to find A Retreat in the Pines. The house is perfect! This was a last minute decision for us to spend Christmas in the pines, luckily we fell upon this home as it was the only one available on VRBO in Munds Park. As stated in several other posts if you can get past the outdated feeling, the home is kept immaculate and was stocked beyond our expectations. Although Flagstaff is only a short 20 minute drive, my family has always enjoyed staying in Munds Park if you like to be out of the hustle of Flagstaff traffic and downtown train noise. We very much appreciate the quiet, peaceful, and relaxing environment of Munds Park. Wendy is very easy to get ahold of, available for all questions, and returned the deposit promptly. I recommend this home to all travelers!

We had an amazing time at this quiet getaway. Everything we needed and more was there. One of our favorite surprises was finding the sleds in the closet and spending the day sledding. We were unsure if we were going to be able to go sledding since we didn't have sleds, but coming across them in the house was a wonderful surprise! We also greatly appreciated the toys, games, and movies offered that were kid friendly. Our little ones did not want to leave because they were having so much fun. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet retreat but who wants all the amenities.

We had a wonderful week long visit! This cabin had it all- movies and games for the kids and all the kitchen tools for the cooks. Everything was in great condition and the place was very clean! Relaxing on the deck was a favorite. The street is very quiet, hardly any cars drive by. Only the occasional neighbor who always wave or say "hello". We would love to come here again!
