The Heard Museum is devoted to Native American art and culture, telling the stories of the Southwest's peoples through immersive, thoughtfully curated galleries. Founded in the 1920s, it has grown into a Phoenix landmark without ever feeling overwhelming.

Highlights include the deeply moving exhibit on the Indian boarding-school era and an extraordinary collection of Hopi katsina dolls, alongside contemporary Native artwork and rotating shows. The museum shop is genuinely excellent for authentic jewelry and pottery straight from the artists.
